Capital Budget Public Hearings and Work Sessions Set
|
|
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Capital Budget and FY 2027–2032 Capital Improvements Program (CIP), a recommendation presented by Superintendent Thomas Taylor during the Oct. 14 Board of Education meeting, requests $2.7 billion over six years. However, it represents only about half of what district facilities actually need. Read more.

Don’t Miss Upcoming Boundary & Secondary Programs Analysis Engagement Sessions
|

MCPS is inviting the community to participate in a series of Q&A engagement sessions on the boundary studies and academic programs analysis efforts. They are scheduled to be in-person sessions from 7-8 p.m. at:

The sessions will have Spanish interpretation, as well as American Sign Language (ASL) support.
The sessions will be recorded and posted online.
In addition, there will be a virtual “Pregúntale a MCPS” live on Facebook for Spanish-speaking families at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Conducted entirely in Spanish, this session will focus on the boundary study options and new academic programs in secondary schools. MCPS staff will explain what these changes could mean for your child and your school.

Nominations Open for Supporting Services Employee of the Year Award
|
The Supporting Services Employee of the Year Award 2026 is now open for nominations. Nominees must be active support professionals in a permanent position and have at least three years of service with MCPS. Completed nomination packets must be submitted electronically to memberservices@seiu500.org. A semifinalist will be selected from each of SEIU Local 500’s eight chapters.
Nominations for the Supporting Services Employee of the Year Award are due by midnight on Monday, Dec. 1.

Mental Health Awareness Week Set for Nov. 3-8
|
|
The Division of Specialized Support Services and the Montgomery County School Psychologists’ Association are co-hosting the 2026 Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) during the week of Nov. 3-8.
This year’s Mental Health and Awareness Fair will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Gaithersburg High School, 101 Education Blvd. in Gaithersburg. Open to staff, students and families, this free event will include workshops, community partners sharing information about mental health and wellness, a student forum and line dancing, Zumba and yoga. RSVP to attend.
Also, employees should be sure to visit the MHAW staff activities website to view upcoming activities, events and resources to build resilience and nurture well-being.

Three schools are being recognized as the healthiest in MCPS — Burtonsville and Twinbrook elementary schools, and Redland Middle School.
The MCPS schools were among 1,120 schools in 34 states and Washington, D.C., announced by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation for 2025. Supported by Del Monte Foods, Kaiser Permanente and Kohl’s Cares, this recognition honored schools for their achievements in advancing the physical, mental and social-emotional health of students, staff and families. Enjoy Free Access to County Recreation Facilities and Pools
|
|
Permanent MCPS employees have free access to all Montgomery County recreation facilities, including swimming pools and gymnasiums. Employees also are eligible for a 20 percent discount on an annual pool pass for family members. Learn more on the county’s recreation website. Apply online for the individual Total Rec Pass. The Employee Family Pool Pass application is also available online. Both passes are valid for one year; you will need to reapply each year to continue your access to the facilities.
