There Is Still Time! Open Enrollment Closes Friday — Need Help?

Time is running out to make changes to your benefits or enroll in a medical and/or dependent care flexible spending account (FSA) for 2026. You can watch this instructional video or use these detailed instructions to assist you with completing your benefits enrollment. Visit the Employee Benefits Open Enrollment webpage for links to benefits information and instructions for making your benefits elections via MCPS Hub+. Learn more.
Additionally, we know that some of you still have questions and need help to finish this important process. Here’s how to get that help: if you email ERSC with your question or open enrollment challenge before Open Enrollment closes at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, MCPS will honor your request, keep your enrollment open, and ensure you get the help you need to complete the process for your benefits.

Don’t Miss Upcoming Boundary and Secondary Programs Analysis Engagement Sessions

In the next few weeks, MCPS is inviting the community to participate in a series of Q&A engagement sessions on the boundary studies and academic programs analysis efforts. See when and where they will be held.
In addition, be sure to join us for a virtual “Pregúntale a MCPS” live on Facebook for Spanish-speaking families at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The session will focus on the boundary study options and new academic programs in secondary schools.

Capital Budget Public Hearings and Work Sessions Set
|
The Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Capital Budget and FY 2027–2032 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) requests $2.7 billion over six years. However, it represents only about half of what district facilities actually need. Join us for the upcoming public hearings and work sessions.

Smith Center Hosting Community Service Day on Nov. 15
|
|
The Lathrop E. Smith Environmental Education Center’s (Smith Center’s) annual community service day will be from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15. Named for Mary Howard, longtime supporter and contributor to the Smith Center, the day provides an opportunity for adults and families to work alongside MCPS staff and friends to improve the center. There will be skilled and unskilled tasks, including painting/staining, splitting firewood and expanding recreational opportunities for students. Students can earn Service Learning (SSL) hours for participating, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

MCPS is hosting a job fair for bus drivers and bus attendants from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13. The fair will be held at the Division of Transportation Services (DOTS), 16651 Crabbs Branch Way in Rockville. For more information, call 240-740-6080.

Join Us for the Mental Health and Wellness Fair on Nov. 8
|
|
MCPS is celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) from Nov. 3-8 to raise awareness about the importance of mental health. Visit the MHAW staff activities website to view upcoming activities, events and resources for MCPS employees to build resilience and support well-being. And don’t miss the Mental Health and Wellness Fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Gaithersburg High School, 101 Education Blvd. in Gaithersburg. The free event will include workshops, community partners sharing information about mental health and wellness, a student forum and line dancing, Zumba and yoga.

Be a Judge for History Day Competition
|
|
MCPS is seeking volunteers to serve as judges for the Montgomery County History Day competition on Saturday, March 7, 2026. The event will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Sligo Middle School, 1401 Dennis Avenue in Silver Spring. No experience is necessary. Register. For questions, email Kelli Champagne.

Don’t Miss Out on These Classroom Grants!
|
|
The Maryland Beta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, an international honorary organization for women educators, is offering a $300 classroom grant for women educators who teach in Montgomery County. The grant must be used to purchase materials and services. Interested educators are asked to email Kay Caviness for an application. Applications are due Saturday, Nov. 15.
The MCPS Educational Foundation is offering small grants to support staff, educators and administrators. Grants of up to $2,000 are available for individual departments and schools, and up to $5,000 for collaborative projects for multiple departments or schools. Applications are due Monday, Dec. 1.
