2025 W-2s to Be Available on Hub+ and Mailed to Employees by Feb. 2
|

The process for obtaining your 2025 tax forms online has moved to MCPS Hub+. All wage and tax statements (W-2s) and employer-provided health insurance offer and coverage statements (1095-Cs) will be available on Hub+ by Monday, Feb. 2. W-2s also will be mailed to all employees.

A New Award Will Honor Top Supporting Staff Employees
|
|
To further strengthen recognition of MCPS’ more than 10,000 supporting services employees, a new award has been established to celebrate supporting services staff — the Worksite Support Staff Excellence Award. Every school and worksite is asked to nominate a full-time supporting services employee who exemplifies excellence, commitment and service to their school or office. For nominations, speak with your site coordinator or principal. Deadline: Monday, Feb. 9

Nominations Now Open for Board’s Public Service Awards
|
The Board of Education is accepting nominations for its 2026 Awards for Distinguished Service to Public Education, which celebrate individuals, groups and businesses that have made a lasting impact on the educational experience within the county. Awards will be presented in the following categories:

Student Service Award
Nominations will be accepted through 5 p.m. on Monday, March 9. Nominations may be submitted in English or Spanish through the linked forms. Nominations in other languages are available via PDF.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Online Information Temporarily Unavailable
|
|
Employees who elected a 2026 Flexible Spending Account (FSA) may be unable to access their account information online due to two separate, system-related issues. Voya’s participant portal experienced an outage on Friday, Jan. 2 that has since been resolved.
A separate error affecting 2026 FSA participant contribution data has also been identified. Updated participant information is expected to be available on the Voya website no later than
Friday, Jan. 9.
All FSA elections for 2026 remain effective as of Jan. 1. Employees whose FSA card was declined and who paid out of pocket for eligible expenses on or after Jan. 1, 2026, may submit claim(s) for reimbursement as soon as their election preferences have been updated on the Voya website. The updates are expected to be completed no later than Friday, Jan. 9.

Registration for Spring Professional Development Is Open
|
|
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses for the spring semester are now open for registration through Professional Development Online (PDO). The spring semester runs from February to mid-June. Teachers have priority registration in CPD courses.

Preview Third Quarter Instructional Materials
|
|
MCPS is hosting a community meeting next week for parents/guardians to preview instructional materials for the third quarter. The meeting, scheduled for 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Summit Hall Elementary School, will cover materials for the elementary and secondary curricula. Summit Hall is located at 101 W. Deer Park Road in Gaithersburg. A second preview event will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18 at Ritchie Park Elementary School.
View the third quarter “Refrigerator Curriculum,” which provides a one-page overview of the main themes and texts students will study each marking period.

Interested in Athletic Administration?

A seminar for individuals interested in pursuing MCPS athletic administration within MCPS at the high school level will be held from 4:30–7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, at MCAAP, 30 W. Gude Drive in Rockville.

Sign Up to Participate in MLK Day of Service
|
|
Staff and students are invited to the 2026 MLK Day of Service and Volunteer Fair on Monday, Jan. 19, at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, 5701 Marinelli Road in Rockville. The event runs from 2 to 4 p.m. (doors open at 1:30 p.m.) Volunteers will participate in service projects benefiting people and communities across the county and can connect with local nonprofit organizations to learn about year‑round volunteer opportunities.

You’re Invited: Honors Jazz Ensembles Performing Jan. 17
|
|
The public is invited to a free concert by the MCPS Honors Jazz Ensembles at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 at Sherwood High School. The concert will feature the Junior and Senior Honors Jazz Ensembles, which includes some of the best student jazz musicians in grades 7-12, as well as the MCPS Faculty Big Band, composed of MCPS staff. Tickets are not required.

Students in the visual art program at the Blair G. Ewing Center will have an opening reception for their exhibition at Gallery B, 7700 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda. The reception, which will be showing large- and small-scale prints from current students and recent alumni, will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14.
Blair Ewing is MCPS’ Alternative Education Program, designed to support students with various learning and social emotional needs in a safe and supportive environment.
