2024-2025 Outcome Evaluation of George B Thomas Sr. Learning Academy’s Saturday School Program

Description:

This outcome evaluation examined the effects of the George B. Thomas, Sr. Learning Academy’s (GBTLA) Saturday School program during the 2024-2025 school year. The evaluation used a quasi-experimental design, which used assessment level data and marking period average, to determine if Saturday School had any impact on academic outcomes for students in Kindergarten – Grade 12. The results provided little evidence that Saturday School participants benefited from the program in terms of academic outcomes.

Recommendations:

It is recommended to continue implementing the Saturday School program with the following considerations in mind:

  • Establish complete session-level attendance tracking to have more nuanced data available.
  • Improve secondary student attendance and retention to investigate the full effects of Saturday School.

By having better data and improving attendance, there will be a greater possibility to detect the effects of Saturday School.
