Hispanic Heritage Month Comes Alive Across MCPS

Schools throughout MCPS are marking Hispanic Heritage Month by honoring culture, identity and community.
Lakelands Park Middle School held an interactive cultural program with Cantaré, which introduced students to the songs and rhythms of Latin America, drawing from the musical heritage of the Caribbean, as well as Central and South America. Students learned about the history of Latin America and the Indigenous, European and African cultures that shaped the music, while singing, playing percussion and dancing basic rhythms. At Albert Einstein High School, students teamed up with the Titanes Salseros Latin dance team for the annual flash dance mob, kicking off the performance season for the school’s dance program. At Watkins Mill High School, students showed their pride with temporary tattoos and Paint Your Flag days.
