Poolesville Principal Earns State Award as Leadership Champion

Mark Carothers, principal at Poolesville High School, was given a Leadership Champion Award by the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP). Carothers was named a Student-Centered Leadership Champion for cultivating and sustaining a safe, healthy and positive school environment where every student is known, accepted, respected and cared for; reinforcing student engagement, and promoting strong relationships. This past Spring, Carothers received the Wayne Perry High School Principal of the Year by the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC) that recognizes his outstanding commitment to elevating student voice and leadership.
He is among 10 2026 honorees who will be recognized at MASSP’s leadership conference in November.
