EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Not all duties assigned are included, nor are all duties listed performed in every office.)Studies and becomes familiar with plans and specifications of assigned construction project(s); reviews with, and maintains contact as required with architect, contractor, and various staff personnel on all aspects of the construction job. Inspects the substratum bearing quality of footings, pouring of concrete, construction, and installation of the various components of the structure, to ascertain whether such work is performed in accordance with the plans and specifications, and is consistent with approved construction practices. Provides day-to-day supervision and assistance to the construction technicians. Resolves differences of opinion between owner, architect and contractor on job problems. Completes daily report describing general status of job, weather, number of workers engaged in the work, specification violations, problems, corrective actions taken, etc.; completes monthly report giving status of the project as a whole. Ascertains, in conjunction with architect, a fair value of work completed, and advises the division director as to the accuracy of the contractor's requisition for monthly payment, and recommends either acceptance or rejection. Prepares correspondence relating to construction projects. Reviews plans and specifications prior to bidding. Provides direction and advice to contractors regarding construction methods, materials, and work/product acceptance. Understands and applies the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS) commitment to students, knowledge of job, professionalism, interpersonal, communication, organization, and problem solving.Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
