EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Not all duties assigned are included, nor are all duties listed performed in every office or every day.) Plumber I (grade 18)1. Maintains and repairs general plumbing components to include toilets, urinals, faucets, hose bibs, and drains. 2. Installs, repairs, or replaces domestic hot and cold water lines. 3. Repairs water distribution piping and waste water piping including steam and hot water systems. 4. Performs preventive maintenance on plumbing systems, including exercising valves. 5. Installs new pipe to accommodate system expansion or modification. 6. Assists higher level plumbers in the completion of licensed plumbing work. 7. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. 8. Performs other related duties as assigned. 9. Summary of distinguishing characteristics: Performing basic trouble shooting and repair; clearing blocked pipes using power equipment; re-piping and installing new components; and back flow certification. Plumber II (grade 20)1. Maintains and repairs general plumbing components to include toilets, urinals, faucets, hose bibs, and drains. 2. Installs, repairs, or replaces domestic hot and cold water lines. 3. Repairs and replaces domestic hot water heat exchangers and water heaters. 4. Repairs and replaces pneumatic steam valves, radiator valves, traps, and steam and condensate pipes. 5. Repairs and replaces domestic hot water heat pumps, chilled water pumps, sump pumps, and sewage pumps. 6. Installs, tests, and repairs all sizes of backflow prevention devices. 7. Troubleshoots and repairs steam, water, and gas utility distribution systems. 8. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. 9. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 10. Summary of distinguishing characteristics: Troubleshooting and repairing utility distribution systems including heat exchangers, valves, PRVs, backflow, equipment room piping, building distribution systems, waste systems and gas systems.
