EBE-RA, Use of Protective Eye Devices
Purpose
To publish procedures in compliance with federal and state regulations for use of protective eye devices by staff in job-specific operational job settings and students in career and technology education, and chemical/physical science laboratories or classrooms.
Background
The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the State of Maryland regulate the use of protective eye devices for employees and students. OSHA estimates that 90 percent of eye injuries can be prevented through the use of proper protective eyewear.
