2026–2027 Calendar Now Available Online

2026–2027 Calendar Now Available Online

At its last business meeting on April 30, the Board of Education approved an adjusted calendar for the 2026–2027 school year, shaped by consistent and widespread feedback from families and staff. Student Transition Day will be Monday, Aug. 24, 2026. The first day of school will be Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026.

Fueling Academic Excellence: MCPS Honors School Lunch Heroes

On Friday, May 1, MCPS teamed up with schools nationwide to celebrate School Lunch Hero Day. The day provided a great opportunity to give a shout-out to the essential team members who keep our district running by serving healthy, fresh meals to nearly 160,000 students every single day. To mark the occasion, the Department of Food and Nutrition Services (DFNS) hosted its annual School Nutrition Employee Recognition Breakfast, which honored 11 employees who keep the district’s nutrition programs running seamlessly.

This year’s honorees are:

  • Ginfeng Day, Cafeteria Worker I, Northwood High School
  • Josue Diaz, Automotive Technician II, Food Services Warehouse

  • Scholarships Available: The MCPS Retirees Association is awarding $1,500 scholarships to teachers and staff members to help defray the cost of course work in a recognized educational program for the summer or fall of 2026. Apply by Monday, May 11.
  • Bus Driver and Bus Attendant Job Fair: 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12. The fair will be held at the Division of Transportation Services, 16651 Crabbs Branch Way in Rockville. 
  • Café Edison Open for Business: Breakfast and lunch are available. Reservations are required. Open through Friday, May 15.
  • Gaithersburg Book Festival: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 at Bohrer Park, 506 S. Frederick Avenue in Gaithersburg. 
  • Fore the Kids Golf Tournament: Monday, June 8 at Montgomery Country Club, to benefit students at John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents.
