Save Your Graduate's MCPS Google Data Before It's Deleted |
|
As your 12th grader prepares to graduate, be aware that their MCPS Google Workspace account will become inactive before the first day of the 2026–2027 school year. After that date, students will permanently lose access to their school Gmail and all files stored on Google Drive. To preserve their academic work, projects and memories, ensure your student exports their data using Google Takeout before the end of the school year.
How Students Can Save Their Data:
- Visit the Google Takeout page while logged into their MCPS account.
- Select the products they want to download (such as Drive, Gmail and Calendar).
- Click "Next step."
- Choose "Send download link via email" as the delivery method.
- Click "Create export" to start the archive process.
Important Note: The export process can take anywhere from a few minutes to several days depending on file sizes. Google will email a link to download the archive as soon as it is ready.

Board Takes No Action on Policy JEF (Open Lunch Policy) |
|
During its business meeting on May 21, the Board of Education debated proposed changes to Policy JEF (Open Lunch Policy). The Board considered a recommendation from the Policy Management Committee to rescind the policy and leave open lunch oversight to the discretion of the superintendent. However, the motion to send the proposal out for public comment failed to pass. A subsequent motion to return the policy to the committee for language revisions also failed. As a result, the Board took no action, and the policy remains unchanged.
What this means for families:
- No Changes to Lunch Practices: Open lunch practices at all schools remain exactly as they are right now.
- No Public Comment Period: The policy is not entering a public comment period.
- Status Quo Remains: Policy JEF remains on the books as written.

Families Invited to Learn About Coming Math Changes |
|
MCPS is moving to a new instructional model focused on building a stronger mathematical foundation and developing confident mathematical thinkers.
Beginning next year, MCPS will implement a cluster model for mathematics instruction. Cluster grouping is designed to allow students to move into advanced learning opportunities as they become ready. Classes will be organized to reduce the broad range of instructional levels within a classroom, which will make it more manageable for teachers to plan instruction effectively, differentiate learning experiences, and provide timely support and enrichment for students.
This model will begin in 2026-2027 for Grade 4 students only, with additional grade levels the following year. If your child is a rising fourth grader, your school will be in touch soon to share details. MCPS will also host community meetings for families to learn more. All meetings are from 7-8:15 p.m.
