All professional development and staff training programs and student and community activities scheduled for Friday, September 19, for the Montgomery County Public Schools are canceled because of continuing emergency weather conditions associated with Hurricane Isabel.

All schools and administrative offices will remain closed through Friday for students and staff, except for essential personnel designated by their offices and departments. Private day care in schools, as well as other community use of schools and activities, are canceled.

Schools were already closed for students on Friday because of the previously planned (now canceled) training programs for teachers and staff. Schools and offices were closed for Thursday as part of the regional response to Hurricane Isabel.

The school system is continuing to work closely with emergency management operations of the county, state, and federal governments in coordinating resources and services in response to the significant threats to health and safety expected from the hurricane.
