Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will celebrate the start of the 2022-2023 school year with a media event on Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at the new Harriet R. Tubman Elementary School, 400 Victory Farm Drive, Gaithersburg, MD. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Monifa B. McKnight and Montgomery County Board of Education President Brenda Wolff will join other local officials at the event.

MCPS is expecting nearly 160,000 students on the first day of school. Dr. McKnight, Ms. Wolff and other speakers will discuss the coming school year and the strategic areas of focus for the district. Following the press conference, guests will be invited to tour the school and see students in their classrooms.
