Finalists Selected for Student Member of the Board of Education
Peter Boyko, a junior at Northwest High School and Anuva Maloo, a junior at Montgomery Blair High School are the finalists for the 48th Student Member of the Board of Education (SMOB). Elections will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. From a pool of ten students, Boyko and Maloo were elected by more than 400 voting middle and high school delegates who attended the SMOB Nominating Convention at Watkins Mill High School on February 19, 2025.
Boyko serves as the Co-President for Eco MoCo, a student-led environmental organization with over 200 members and volunteers. He also served as his school’s student government association as President and is currently serving as Second Vice President. His experiences include working with the Montgomery County Regional Student Government Association as the Educational Policy Director and serving as the Assistant Chief of Staff for the Lynne Harris Student Internship program.
Maloo serves as her school’s Class President and the Workshop Deputy for the Montgomery County Regional Student Government Association. She also serves as the Founder and President of the Northeast Consortium (NEC) and Downcounty Consortium (DCC) Advocacy Coalition (NDAC) and the Outreach Director for the Yellow Foundation, an international organization dedicated to helping young people in poverty.
