ROCKVILLE, Md. – Diamond Elementary School and Wilson Wims Elementary School have been named 2025-2026 Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools.
The awards recognize the schools' exceptional academic performance on national and state assessments, as well as their success in narrowing achievement gaps among diverse student groups compared to the state average.
This distinction comes as the Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools program has been reinstated following the U.S. Department of Education’s decision to discontinue the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program.
MCPS Superintendent Thomas Taylor will celebrate this achievement by visiting both schools on Friday, Oct. 3.
The first visit will be at Wilson Wims Elementary (12520 Blue Sky Dr, Clarksburg, MD 20871) starting at 9:30 a.m. The visit to Diamond Elementary will follow.
