Students, families, and staff at Luxmanor Elementary School will be joined by Board of Education President Sharon W. Cox, Superintendent Jerry D. Weast, Delegate William Bronrott, representatives from the departments of Police and Fire and Rescue Services, and other officials in observing Walk to School Day on October 7.

Walkers will gather at Tilden Woods (6800 Tilden Lane) at 8:15 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, to make the short walk to the school. Participants will hold a brief press conference at the school following the walk.

The Board of Education encouraged the observance of Walk to School Day in Montgomery County Public Schools during its September 27th meeting, citing the importance of physical fitness and of attention to the safety of pedestrians, particularly student walkers. Elementary schools throughout the county have organized events for Walk to School Day.
