Board of Education Seeks Comment on Policy Regarding Individuals with Disabilities

Comment Sought on Policy ACG, Access to Services,
Programs, and Activities by Individuals with Disabilities

The Board of Education has requested community comment regarding Policy ACG, Access to Services, Programs, and Activities by Individuals with Disabilities. The policy provides a clear and comprehensive mandate for the prohibition and elimination of any unlawful discrimination against individuals with disabilities and affirms the goals of the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments of 2008. The updated draft also provides for the rescission of Policy GBH, Employment of Individuals with Disabilities, after incorporating relevant portions.

Copies of Policy ACG and Policy GBH, along with a “crosswalk” document comparing related elements of the two policies, are available through the Public Information Office by calling 301-279-3853. Individuals who wish to provide comments should respond in writing by Friday, September 9, 2011. All responses should be sent to the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, 850 Hungerford Drive, Room 122, Rockville, Maryland 20850, or send an email to the Board of Education at boe@mcpsmd.org. All responses will be shared with the members of the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools.
