Spring MCPS Parent Academy Sessions Announced
April 12, 2012
More than 20 classes will be offered to MCPS parents and community members during the spring session of the MCPS Parent Academy. Among the topics that will be covered are Curriculum 2.0, effective parenting skills, and making successful transitions from middle school to high school.
The free classes are held at locations throughout the county and are facilitated by MCPS staff, community partners and outside experts.
“The MCPS Parent Academy is a great way for parents to stay engaged and involved in their child’s education,” said Joshua P. Starr, Superintendent of Schools. “Parents will get information and strategies they can use to help their children succeed in school and in life.”
The Parent Academy sessions are hosted by the MCPS Department of Family and Community Partnerships and attendance has grown over the years. More than 1300 parents and community members have attended sessions so far this school year.
Some Parent Academy workshops will be presented in Spanish, and free childcare and interpretation services are available upon request. For more information on the spring MCPS Parent Academy sessions,
