Winter MCPS Parent Academy Sessions Announced
January 7, 2013
Classes on curriculum, college and career readiness and cybersafety are being offered to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) parents and community members during the 2013 winter session of the MCPS Parent Academy. Other topics being covered include effective parenting skills, social media and special education.
The free workshops are held at locations throughout the county and are facilitated by MCPS staff, community partners and outside experts.
“The MCPS Parent Academy is a great resource for parents that seek to stay engaged and involved in their child’s education”, said Joshua P. Starr, Superintendent of Schools. “Parents will receive great information and strategies they can use to help their children succeed in school and in life.”
Parent Academy sessions are hosted by the MCPS Division of Family and Community Partnerships and attendance has grown over the years. More than 2000 parents and community members attended sessions last year.
Some Parent Academy workshops will be presented in Spanish. Free childcare and interpretation services will be provided. For more information on the fall MCPS Parent Academy sessions,
visit the Parent Academy website
or contact the Division of Family and Community Partnerships at 301-279-3100.
