Montgomery Blair High School Wins Regional National Science Bowl Competition, Secures Spot in National Finals in Washington, D.C.
Students from Montgomery Blair High School have won the Regional National Science Bowl Competition (NSB). With this win, the team advances to the National Finals set to be held in Washington, D.C., in April. This is the 9th NSB state title for the school.
“I am extremely proud of our Science Bowl team and Coach Tran Pham for winning this rigorous competition for the 9th year,” said Montgomery Blair Principal Renay Johnson. “This is a great accomplishment for Montgomery Blair High School and Montgomery County Public Schools.”
The members of the winning team are Jamie Vinson, Arnold Mong, Eric Lu, Alex Miao and Elliot Kienzle.
The NSB brings together thousands of middle and high school students from across the country to compete in a fast-paced question-and-answer format where they solve technical problems and answer questions on a range of science disciplines, including biology, chemistry, Earth and space science, physics and math.
The Department of Energy created the National Science Bowl in 1991 to encourage American high school students to excel in math and science and to pursue careers in these fields. By recognizing and rewarding successful math and science students, the National Science Bowl generates enthusiasm for science and engineering.
