Board of Education Receives Update on 2017 Enhanced Funding Allocations; Approves 2018–2020 MCAAP Negotiated Agreement
The Montgomery County Board of Education (Board) met on Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive in Rockville. During the meeting, the Board approved the Fiscal Year 2018–2020 negotiated agreement with the Montgomery County Association of Administrators and Principals (MCAAP); approved the preliminary plans report for the Rock Terrace School and Tilden Middle School revitalization/expansion project; and received an update on the strategic use of the $37.9 million investment in enhanced funding provided by the Montgomery County Council in Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 to support Montgomery County Public Schools’ (MCPS) strategic plan. Approval of the Fiscal Year 2018–2020 Negotiated Agreement with the Montgomery County Association of Administrators and Principals
The Board of Education approved the Fiscal Year 2018–2020 negotiated agreement with the Montgomery County Association of Administrators and Principals (MCAAP). The three-year agreement was ratified by the membership of MCAAP.

Implementing the Fiscal Year 2017 Enhanced Funding Allocations: Successes Challenges, and Reflections
The Board of Education received an update on the use of the $37.9 million investment in enhanced funding provided last year by the Montgomery County Council in Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 to support the strategic plan of MCPS, eliminate educational disparities, and reduce class size. The presentation from MCPS staff identified the five investment tactics of the enhanced funds, detailed their alignment to the 2016–2017 Strategic Priorities, delineated the allocation, identified the associated strategies, defined measures of success, and provided an update on the implementation.
Facilities and School Construction
The Board approved the preliminary plans report for the Rock Terrace School and Tilden Middle School Revitalization/Expansion Project.

The Board approved the following administrative appointments:
Peter Cevenini, currently chief of instructional technology, Charles County Public Schools, as chief technology officer, Office of the Chief Technology Officer
Michaele O. Simmons, currently principal, Weller Road Elementary School, as director, Investigations and Compliance, Office of Human Resources and Development
Heidi L. Slatcoff, currently acting principal, Earle B. Wood Middle School, as principal, Earle B. Wood Middle School
Courtney M. Jones, currently principal intern, Cedar Grove Elementary School, as principal, Cashell Elementary School

The Board approved the following resolutions:

-A resolution recognizing Jewish American Heritage Month
