Board of Education Discusses Evidence of Learning
The Montgomery County Board of Education (Board) met on Monday, September 25, 2017, at Carver Educational Services Center, 850 Hungerford Drive in Rockville. During the meeting, the Board held a discussion on student performance data.
The agenda for the meeting, with links to related materials, can be viewed on the Board of Education website.
Evidence of Learning: District and School Metrics
The Board received an update and held a discussion on student performance readiness data. Readiness is an indication of the performance of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students, using the Evidence of Learning (EOL) framework, as they advance through the levels: primary to intermediate, intermediate to middle school, and middle school to high school. The Board also was provided with the completion performance data for the Class of 2017, including the official graduation and Maryland College and Career Readiness (CCR) performance data.
In recognition of how certain factors (e.g., mobility, attendance, limited English proficiency, special education) create conditions that potentially impact teaching and learning, the district is applying methods of analyzing data that explore patterns designed to raise awareness regarding how certain conditions may affect achievement for some of MCPS’ most vulnerable students.
This was the second of three presentations that will be made to the Board regarding student learning. The third presentation, expected to be scheduled for winter 2018, will focus on transition performance data for Grades 3, 6, and 9.
