Focus on Successful Technology Volunteer Programs in Schools

April 17, 2002
A press event will focus on the important role played by businesses and community members in enhancing the use of technology in schools, highlight successful collaborations currently taking place, and encourage other local businesses, community groups, and individuals to become technology partners with schools.

The event will take place in the Silver Spring offices of Comcast on Monday, April 22, at 1:00 p.m.

Among those receiving awards for their volunteer contributions will be three students from Montgomery Blair High School. Their program, Montgomery Ultimate Story Exchange (M.U.S.E.), uses high school volunteers to help elementary school students with writing skills through email tutorials.

The event is co-sponsored by the Montgomery County Business Roundtable for Education, Montgomery County Public Schools, and TECH CORPS, a non-profit organization that helps connect schools with businesses and other organizations that can support educational technology programs with technical expertise and technology resources.
