MCPS Students Advance in Siemens Science Competition in Math, Science & Technology

Eleven Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students have been named semifinalists in the Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology, and four of those students have been selected as regional finalists.

Cindy Huang of Thomas S. Wootton High School, Jessie Ma of Winston Churchill High School, and Andrew Komo and Robert Yang of Montgomery Blair High School will now compete in one of six regional events to be held in November. In total, there were six regional finalists in Maryland.

Winners of the regional events will advance to the national finals, to be held in Washington, D.C., in December. They will have the opportunity to win up to $100,000. 

In all, 11 students from Montgomery Blair, Thomas S. Wootton and Winston Churchill high schools were named semifinalists in the competition.

The Siemens Competition, sponsored by the Siemens Foundation and administered by Discovery Education, is the nation’s premier science research competition for high school students.
