Two MCPS Students Named Presidential Scholars
Two MCPS graduating seniors were recognized this week as U.S. Presidential Scholars.
Garyk Brixi of Winston Churchill High School, and Addele Hargenrader of Richard Montgomery High School were among 161 students nationally to be named U.S. Presidential Scholars. The students were chosen by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, as well as community service, leadership and commitment to high ideals.
The students honored are asked to select their most influential teacher. Garyk chose Virginia Brown, molecular genetics teacher at Churchill, and Addele chose Brandy McDonald-Nestor, English teacher at Richard Montgomery.
The scholars will receive a Presidential Scholar Medallion during a ceremony on June 23.
