MCPS Launches Partnership with Righttime Medical Care to Provide Hands-On Clinical Training for Students
Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) has launched a new partnership with Righttime Medical Care to provide Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) internships for MCPS students who have taken the CMA course and passed the national Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification exam.
Currently, 19 students from 10 MCPS high schools are participating in the program at seven Montgomery County Righttime clinic locations. As part of the internship program, students learn about urgent medical care and get hands-on experience by assisting with triaging patients, observing and assisting through the care process, and providing support in the discharge process.
Collectively, MCPS students will receive more than 2,800 hours of clinical experience and training through the program.
"Righttime is delighted to expand our CMA partnership this year with Montgomery County Public Schools and welcomes the participating student interns,” said Robert Graw Jr., CEO of Righttime Medical Care. “Our clinical providers will work directly with these young people to help them learn about urgent medical care, which includes serving an important supportive role in caring for non-emergency illnesses, orthopedic injuries, stitches and concussion care."
Righttime Medical Care, which has 20 locations in Maryland and is open 365 days a year, has provided urgent care to the community for 30 years. Righttime provides care for all types of non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries from newborns to seniors.
