April 28, 2003
Parent meetings on the enrollment options available next year in response to requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 are being held beginning this week at the 10 federally funded Title I elementary schools that have not demonstrated two years of sustained improvement in overall student performance.
The schedule of the meetings, all of which begin at 7:00 p.m., include Broad Acres Elementary on Monday, May 5; Burnt Mills Elementary on Tuesday, April 29; Gaithersburg Elementary on Wednesday, April 30; Harmony Hills Elementary on Tuesday, April 29; and Highland Elementary on Tuesday, April 29.
Also included are Kemp Mill Elementary on Wednesday, April 30; Rosemont Elementary on Monday, April 28; Summit Hall Elementary on Tuesday, April 29; Weller Road Elementary on Wednesday, April 30; and Wheaton Woods Elementary on Thursday, May 1.
Notification of the meetings was sent in letters to parents earlier this month, including multiple language translations. In addition, a new booklet featuring typical questions and answers about the school choice enrollment option were sent home last week. The brochure is available at the link below.
