MCPS Places Five Schools in Top 500 on U.S. News ‘Best High Schools’ List

All 25 Montgomery County public schools earned spots on the 2020 Best High Schools list, published by U.S. News & World Report. Five ranked in the top 500 nationally, and nine were ranked in the top 25 in Maryland. Poolesville High School was ranked first in Maryland and 90th nationally.

The MCPS schools that made the top 25 list in Maryland are:

  • Poolesville High School (#90 in National Rankings; #1 in Maryland)
  • Walt Whitman High School (#105 in National Rankings; #2 in Maryland)
  • Thomas S. Wootton High School (#128 in National Rankings; #3 in Maryland)
  • Winston Churchill High School (#133 in National Rankings; #4 in Maryland)
  • Walter Johnson High School (#344 in National Rankings: #6 in Maryland)
  • Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School (#567 in National Rankings; #13 in Maryland)
  • Richard Montgomery High School (#604 in National Rankings; #14 in Maryland)
  • Quince Orchard High School (#807 in National Rankings; #20 in Maryland)
  • Damascus High School (#1,031 in National Rankings; #25 in Maryland)
