REMINDER: MEDIA ADVISORY: MCPS to Hold Media Event August 30 to Celebrate Start of 2021-2022 School Year

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will celebrate the start of the 2021-2022 school year with a media event TOMORROW, Monday, Aug. 30, 2021 at the new Seneca Valley High School building, 19401 Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown. Interim Superintendent Monifa B. McKnight and Montgomery County Board of Education President Brenda Wolff will join other local and state officials at the event.

Nearly 160,000 students are expected for the first day of school. The event will highlight the school and its innovative Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, MCPS’ reopening plans, and strategic priorities for the school year.

WHAT: MCPS Back-to-School press conference

WHEN: Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, at 10 a.m.

WHERE: Seneca Valley High School, 19401 Crystal Rock Drive in Germantown

WHO: Among those expected to speak at the press conference are:

-Mrs. Brenda Wolff, President, Montgomery County Board of Education

-Dr. Monifa B. McKnight, Interim Superintendent, Montgomery County Public Schools

-Marc Elrich, Montgomery County Executive

-Tom Hucker, President, and Craig Rice, Chair, Education Committee, Montgomery County Council 

-Marc Cohen, Principal, Seneca Valley High School

-John P. O’Donnell, President and CEO, Washington Area New Automobile Dealers Association

-Shelby Bidwell, President, Seneca Valley High School PTA
