New Teachers Engage in Week-long Orientation

An orientation session for approximately 530 new educators in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is being held from August 11 through August 15, from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, August 12, and Wednesday, August 13, elementary school teachers will meet at Quince Orchard High School, middle school teachers will meet at Wheaton High School, and high school teachers will meet at Sherwood High School.

On Thursday, August 14, and Friday, August 15, the new educators will receive further professional development at their assigned schools. An additional day of training will be provided for special education teachers on Monday, August 18, at Quince Orchard High School.

The purpose of the orientation sessions is to provide a comprehensive curriculum overview, insights into the professional growth system in Montgomery County Public Schools, and general employment information.

A special new teacher welcome is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Walt Whitman High School.
