Capital Budget Proposals to be Released Oct. 29

A comprehensive plan to improve the quality and increase the availability of public school facilities in Montgomery County will be described at a press conference on Wednesday, October 29, at 10:00 a.m. at Bells Mill Elementary School in Potomac with Dr. Jerry D. Weast, superintendent of schools, members of the Board of Education, and parent and community leaders.

The plan features dozens of projects affecting tens of thousands of students throughout the county, including building new schools, opening previously closed schools, modernizing older schools, providing more instructional space, reducing the dependency on portable classrooms, adding gyms to elementary schools, and upgrading school facilities, including restrooms. The recommendations will be outlined in the proposed Fiscal Year 2005 Capital Budget and the six-year Capital Improvements Program (CIP).
