Public Comment Sought on Two Revised Policies

November 18, 2003
The Board of Education has revised two policies, one on the naming of school facilities and the other on funds retained pending the completion of a construction project, and individuals are invited to respond in writing about either or both of the revised policies.

* Policy FFA, Naming of School Facilities, establishes a process for the naming of new or existing school facilities. New language was added to address community interest in the renaming of schools and naming a portion of a school, including athletic facilities.

* Policy FED, Reduction of Funds Retained Pending Completion of a Contract, addresses issues related to the retainage of contract funds involved in the completion of capital construction projects.

Both policies are available on the web at the link below or from the Department of Communications, Montgomery County Public Schools, 850 Hungerford Drive, Room 112, Rockville, Maryland 20850; or by calling 301-279-3853.

Individuals who wish to comment about either or both of the revised policies should submit comments in writing by January 28, 2004, to the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, 850 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, Maryland 20850. All responses will be shared with the Board of Education.
