Andrew Young to Speak on Reform in Montgomery Cnty.

Former mayor of Atlanta, congressman, and United Nations ambassador Andrew Young will address the annual meeting of the Montgomery County Business Roundtable for Education (MCBRE) on Monday morning, March 15, at the Bethesda Marriott.

Mr. Young, who is now chairman of Goodworks International, based in Atlanta, Georgia, will be joined by more than 250 business, government, community, and education leaders, including Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan, County Council President Steve Silverman, and Dr. Jerry D. Weast, superintendent of schools. Mr. Young is expected to speak on the efforts to improve minority student achievement in Montgomery County.

The annual meeting will review the work of MCBRE as a partner in the reform and improvement efforts under way in the Montgomery County Public Schools, especially in the areas of reading and mathematics, early childhood education, staff development, and accountability.
