Montgomery County Public Schools, NAACP Parents’ Council and Johns Hopkins University to Host a Junior Day College Event

January 25, 2024

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), in partnership with the NAACP-MC Parents’ Council and John Hopkins University, will host a Junior Day, Preparing for the Journey Ahead, as part of the MCPS Out-of-School Time program, on Monday, Jan. 29 at Wheaton High School. Rising minority seniors will learn about scholarships and financial aid, tips on researching colleges, interviews and campus visits and the college admissions process for student athletes. Students will also have the opportunity to meet with admissions counselors from a variety of colleges and universities.

“We are excited to offer rising minority seniors this opportunity to learn more about how to navigate the process for researching and applying to college outside of their traditional school day,” said MCPS Superintendent Dr. Monifa B. McKnight. “This event will teach students about potential options after high school on their pathway to be college, career and community ready.

Junior Day is part of the Out-of-School Time (OST) program offered by MCPS. OST days are designed to provide free out-of-school programming on days when school is not in session for students.
