ROCKVILLE, MD – Montgomery County Public Schools Superintendent Jerry D. Weast will present his proposed FY 2006 Operating Budget on Wednesday, December 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the newly renovated Rockville High School, 2100 Baltimore Road.

The community presentation, which is open to the public, will focus on Dr. Weast’s plan to build on the many academic successes MCPS students have achieved during the last five years. The FY 2006 plan focuses on class size reduction, expanded full-day kindergarten, enhancing special education, and hiring, training and retaining the best education workforce in Maryland.

“The budget I am proposing is designed with one goal in mind – to improve student achievement. It will ensure that we continue to move forward even as the challenges that confront us become more complex,” said Dr. Weast.

For the first time in MCPS history, the Wednesday night speech will be available in five languages – Spanish, French, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as English. Cued Speech interpreters also will be available.
