Magruder Program Hosts Visits from State Officials

February 11, 2005
Students and teachers at Col. Zadok Magruder High School who participate in Project Lead the Way, a national pre-engineering program administered in Maryland by the State Department of Education, will demonstrate the success of this collaborative program to state officials and business leaders. The visit will take place on Monday, February 14, from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m.

Project Lead the Way offers rigorous coursework in science, mathematics, and engineering designed to prepare students for higher education and careers in engineering. Elements of the program reflect a collaboration among representatives of education, economic development, job training, and other areas of state and local government and community initiatives.

The Maryland State Department of Education has provided grants to local school systems totaling two million dollars to implement this program at Magruder High School and 25 other high schools statewide.
