May 31, 2005
A ceremony to dedicate the newly installed solar panels at Takoma Park Middle School will be held at the school on June 1 at 3:00 p.m. This event is a culmination of a two-day program for Takoma Park Middle School students called SOLAR DAYS. During science classes, students studied solar energy and participated in demonstrations using energy saving devices such as an electric car, a scooter truck, a solar cooker, and a solar powered water pump. The students have engaged in interdisciplinary activities related to solar power.

State Senator Rob Garagiola, a solar panel advocate and sponsor of the bill that created the Solar Energy Grant Program; Tom Perez, County Council president; Michael Richard, Michael Li, and Tim LaRonde from the Maryland Energy Administration; and other guests will participate in the dedication.
