Blair Student Excels at Math Olympiad

Team from United States Finishes Second in the Competition

The team representing the United States finished second overall at the 46th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) held from July 4 through July 18 in Merida, Mexico. Team member Brian Lawrence, a student at Montgomery Blair High School, earned a gold medal for achieving a perfect individual score of 42 points.

The U.S. team earned 213 total points in the competition. China finished first overall with 235 points. Russia placed third with 212 points, Iran was fourth with 201, and Korea fifth with 200 points.
