Meadow Hall ES to Celebrate Walk to School Day

County officials will join students and parents to celebrate this year’s International Walk Your Child to School Day at Meadow Hall Elementary School. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 5.

8:15 a.m.: Walk Begins
Broadwood Drive and Bradley Avenue

9:15 a.m.: Program
Meadow Hall Elementary School
951 Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville

Speakers are expected to include:

- Cabell Lloyd, Principal of Meadow Hall Elementary School
- William Bronrott, Maryland State Delegate, District 16
- Tom Carr, Chief of Fire and Rescue, Montgomery County
- Pat Lewis, Federal Express Representative
- Melissa Morella, Safety Patrol Captain at Meadow Hall Elementary School
- Tess Gerrety, Safety Patrol Member at Meadow Hall Elementary School

Participants will walk from the corner of Broadwood Drive and Bradley Avenue to the school in order to bring attention to the need to help children and adults become more physically active. Other goals of Walk to School Day are to emphasize the importance of safe neighborhoods for children and adults to walk in; reduce traffic in neighborhoods, especially around schools; prevent crime through increased neighborhood vigilance; and help neighbors get to know one another.
