Student at Richard Montgomery High School Among Five Candidates for Student Member of the State Board of Education

February 1, 2000
Kathy Belendiuk from Richard Montgomery High School has advanced to the final round of screening for the position of student member of the Maryland State Board of Education. She is one of five students who will present their credentials to the General Assembly of the Maryland Association of Student Councils (MASC).

At the MASC Legislative Session on February 5, student delegates from around the state will have the opportunity to hear speeches and ask questions of the five candidates. Balloting will reduce the field to the top two candidates.

The two names will then be sent to Governor Parris N. Glendening who will appoint one of the two to represent students for a one-year term on the State Board of Education beginning on July 1, 2000.
