Students Win 'Ride by the Rules' Bus Safety Video Contest

As part of the ongoing Ride by the Rules bus safety campaign sponsored by Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), students throughout the school system were invited to produce short videos to promote bus safety and appropriate behavior on the bus. MCPS began the Ride by the Rules campaign in order to help both parents and students understand the rules for safety on school buses.

Students used animation, music, dance and energetic story lines in their videos to illustrate the themes of responsible and respectful behavior. Student video teams from the following schools were awarded prizes for first and second place:


1st Place Elementary School Level - Strathmore ES
2nd Place Elementary School Level - Twinbrook ES
1st Place Middle School Level - Rocky Hill MS
2nd Place Middle School Level - Lakelands Park MS
1st Place High School Level - Montgomery Blair HS
2nd Place High School Level - John F. Kennedy HS

Winning schools received a trophy and free bus transportation for a school-sponsored field trip.
