Comment Sought on Two Policies on Funding Employee Retirement/Pension System and Postemployment Benefits


The Board of Education has requested community comment regarding Policy GIG, Funding Retirement/Pension System, and Policy GIH, Funding Other Postemployment Benefits. The revision of Policy GIG continues the Board of Education’s commitment to maintain a plan of retirement/pension benefits which is adequately funded and will provide income to employees during their retirement years. Policy GIH sets forth the priorities of the school system’s Other Postemployment Benefits (OPEB) with regard to postemployment health benefits for eligible employees and retirees.

Individuals who wish to provide comments should respond in writing by Friday, September 4, 2009. All responses should be sent to the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, 850 Hungerford Drive, Room 122, Rockville, Maryland 20850. The responses will be shared with the members of the Board of Education.
