U.S. Secretary of Education Invites Parents to “Join the Conversation” at Televised Town Hall Meeting

MCPS Parent Advisory Council Invited to Participate as Part of the Studio Audience

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Parent Advisory Council (PAC) has been invited to participate in a National Town Hall Meeting with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan on Tuesday evening, September 15, 2009. The Secretary will engage in a live, interactive discussion with parents across the nation on a special edition of Education News Parents Can Use, the U.S. Department of Education’s monthly television series focusing on schools, learning, and student success.

PAC representatives will be participating in the event as members of the studio audience. The Secretary also will be engaging in dialogue with parents across the nation by telephone and through email. Throughout the hour-long program, parents will have a chance to offer the Secretary their suggestions for improving education in the United States. The program can be viewed live on MCPS Instructional TV from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. on local cable channels 34 (Comcast), 36 (Verizon), and 89 (RCN).
