Registrations Still Open for Nov. 16 MCPS Parent Academy Workshops

November 16, 2009
Nov. 16 Workshops Focus on Helping Your Child Make Good Decisions, Math Strategies in Elementary School, and College Admissions

The Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Parent Academy continues to accept registrations for its fall 2009 session of workshops for MCPS parents. All workshops are free and are held in schools and other locations throughout the county. Free child care and interpretation services are provided.

Workshops in the fall 2009 lineup give parents the opportunity to brush up on their algebra skills, take behind the scenes tours of local colleges, hear straight talk from a former principal about helping children make good decisions, learn more about the Seven Keys to College Readiness, and more. The MCPS Parent Academy was launched in the fall of 2007 in response to parents’ requests for information and strategies that would help them strengthen their advocacy skills and be full partners in their children’s education.

Upcoming workshops include—

Hands-on Math Strategies for Children in Elementary School—Nov. 16
Behind the Scenes at Montgomery College: Admissions, Financial Aid, and Tour—Nov. 16
Helping Your Child Make Good Decisions—Nov. 16
Seven Keys to College Readiness—Nov. 18
Cybersafety—Dec. 3

Parents can view the full schedule of workshops and register online at www.mcpsparentacademy.org. Registrations also are accepted over the phone by calling 301-517-5940.
