Schools Closed on Friday, Jan. 28; Administrative Offices Open (Updated)

UPDATED AT 6 A.M. WITH INFORMATION ABOUT DAY CARE PROGRAMS IN SCHOOLS THAT ARE CLOSED

Montgomery County Public Schools are closed Friday, January 28, due to emergency weather conditions and power loss. All school and community activities in school buildings also are canceled. All administrative offices are open.

Day care programs in school buildings will be open. However, day care programs located in schools without power will be closed. Day care programs at the following schools are closed (as of 6 a.m.):

Arcola Elementary
Argyle Middle
Brookhaven Elementary
Burning Tree Elementary
College Gardens Elementary
Darnestown Elementary
East Silver Spring Elementary
Georgian Forest Elementary
Glenallan Elementary Schools
Luxmanor Elementary
Strathmore Elementary
Stonegate Elementary (partial power)
Viers Mill Elementary
Westover Elementary

Staff in these and other MCPS buildings without power should contact their supervisor to discuss a work location or leave.
