Board of Education Seeks Applicants for Family Life and Human Development Advisory Committee

   The Montgomery County Board of Education is seeking community members and public high school students to serve on its Family Life and Human Development Advisory Committee. The committee serves in an advisory capacity to consult with professional educators within the school system in the course of their developing, implementing, and evaluating the family life and human development program.

   Appointments are two years for adults and one year (July through June) for s
tudents. Unless exempted by the Board, no member shall serve for more than two consecutive terms.  Members serve without compensation.  The committee generally meets once every other month during the evening and may meet more frequently if needed.

   The Board of Education makes every effort to appoint advisory committees in which the membership is balanced by geographic area, race, ethnicity, gender, and range of viewpoints, but the final selection of all members will be at the discretion of the Board. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply. All applicants must be bona fide residents of Montgomery County. All student applicants must attend a high school in
Montgomery County Public Schools.

   Applications must be received by close of business on Friday, May 20, 2011, for appointment to be made by the Board of Education at its meeting on June 16, 2011.
(Applicants are not required to attend this meeting.)
