Mobile Science Laboratory on Capitol Hill Will Showcase Biotechnology Experiments of High School Students
On Tuesday, June 20, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., high school students from Montgomery County Public Schools will conduct biotechnology experiments in a 40-foot bus called MobileLab. The mobile science laboratory will be parked at the Capitol near the Russell Senate Office Building in Washington, D. C. It will be open to the public while students from an internship program at the National Institutes of Health demonstrate some of the latest techniques of molecular biology.
The Mobilelab also will be at Walter Johnson High School [6400 Rock Spring Drive in Bethesda] on Wednesday, June 21, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. The focus of this visit by the biotechnology laboratory on wheels will be a briefing by Mobilelab scientists for MCPS students and teachers who will begin their NIH internships this coming summer.
Both the MobileLab, part of Boston University's CityLab project, and the high school student internship program are supported by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
