James Hubert Blake High School has been selected as a winner of the annual Siemens Award for Advanced Placement (AP).
Blake is one of 12 high schools throughout the nation to win the award this year, based on improvement in participating in the Advanced Placement Program.

A letter notifying principal Carole Goodman of the award recognized the school for its "truly extraordinary" mathematics and science AP program. The award also recognizes high school students for their achievement in cumulative AP scores in the hard sciences, as well as high school AP teachers for their support and contributions to the AP program.

The Siemens Award for Advanced Placement is presented to two schools in each of the College Board's six regions-one urban and one at-large. Blake was selected as a Middle States regional winner.

Schools are selected for the award, provided by the Siemens Foundation, by a panel of judges from the College Board, which administers the AP program.

The school will receive a plaque and $1,000 at a ceremony to be held at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta the weekend of November 9.
