November 21, 2001
Lee and Sheldon Fishman, parents of three graduates of Montgomery Blair High School and a graduate of Albert Einstein High School, were presented with the Maryland PTA Family of the Year award at a ceremony on November 16 at the Holiday Inn in Timonium, Maryland.

Maryland PTA President Debbie Bostian and Award’s Committee Chair Ester Parker presented the couple with a plaque of appreciation from the Maryland PTA. The Family of the Year award recognizes one family in the state that has made unique, creative, and significant contributions to the PTA by giving unselfishly to the community.

The Fishmans were honored for their advocacy for education issues over a period of 21 years and leadership in organizing activities such as book fairs, teacher appreciation, kindergarten orientations, and outreach programs. They were nominated by the Montgomery Blair HIgh School staff recognition committee.
