"Drive for Supplies" to Distribute Reusable School Supplies

April 30, 2002
For the second year in a row, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will be participating at the end of the school year in a school and locker clean-out project in collaboration with Learn Shop, Inc. Through a project called "Drive for Supplies," the organization collects and distributes discarded, reusable school supplies to local and international children's charities.

Drive for Supplies coordinators designated by principals will organize groups of students and staff to help with the effort. Students at participating schools are encouraged to donate used but usable school supplies at the end of the school year when they clean out their lockers, bookbags, and desks.

Preparing for the Drive for Supplies also provides an opportunity to emphasize and extend the MCPS recycling program. Schools are encouraged to take the opportunity to examine recycling and remind staff and students about recycling regulations.
